Why this figure matters. Annual kilometres are part of the information insurers ask you for when you request a car insurance quote. The tool rebuilds the figure from your driving habits, week by week.
An under-declared figure may matter. Declaring fewer kilometres than you actually drive may matter at the time of a claim. Your policy specifies what you must declare, and your insurer can tell you whether the figure should be updated when your habits change.

Sources and method
- No average and no outside figure enters this calculation: every distance comes from you. Only one calendar constant is added, namely 52 weeks in a year.
- Commute = one-way distance × 2 × commuting days per week × (52 − weeks without commuting).
- Errands and everyday trips = kilometres per week × 52.
- Annual estimate = commute + errands + weekend outings + road trips. The figure to declare rounds it up to the next thousand kilometres.
